announcements

Seems kind of silly having a blog post called announcements, but I do have some things to announce.

I already spilled the beans yesterday about joining the Facebook thing.  I've had mixed feelings about Facebook.  I deactivated my personal account a long time ago, but for some reason I was being pulled in that direction again.  So, here I am, on Facebook.  Come over and say "hi" if you're so inclined.  I've been posting a few things on there and figure it's a great way to quickly share something I'm thinking about or doing because I can't always take the time to do a full blog post.  We'll see how it goes.

And to celebrate my Facebook debut I'm offering free shipping in my shop.  I was originally being all sneaky and saying that the free shipping code is available on my Facebook page, but it's getting hidden on there.  So, if you want free shipping on any item in my shop (to any location in the world!), use the code: celebratefb

You may have already noticed my other news tidbit if you've been looking on my sidebars at all.  I added a sidebar on the left where I've added buttons for a few online shops and for Kelly Rae Roberts' ebooks.  I'm now an affiliate!  If you have no idea what I mean, drop by my new page where I explain what it means and why I'm doing it.  Basically, I just want to continue sharing stuff that I think is cool and Kelly Rae and those other companies are willing to pay me if you end up thinking it's cool, too.  Not a bad bargain.

Finally (I think it's finally), I've been working on my website and now have a new homepage with links to my blog, my shop and a new about me page I'm still working on (there's also a button on the right).  I hope to add a few more pages in the coming weeks.

And, since I can't post without a couple pictures, here's the little bunny I encountered on the meadow path yesterday evening.

She wasn't at all afraid until Holden lumbered too close.

  1. Anne, the bunny is so cute! Congrats on facebook! I find it such an easy way to keep in touch with people (especially as I hate using the telephone).... Where in the states are you? I have been looking at houses online - it is so cheap compared to Australia!

Congrats on your new website too - you are clever - I'm about to pop over to visit!

  5. Will add you to FB when I get home (at work right now). I think the situations people get annoyed at ads for are more when the blogger isn't being clear...which is the exact opposite of what you're doing. I fully support you and all these new changes!

  9. Oh and I'm impressed how you managed to capture such a good photo of that adorable rabbit. Usually the wild rabbits around here dart straight into the hedges/undergrowth at the first noise. This one looks like it was ready to make friends with you :-)

  10. Anne, once again I find we're thinking along the same lines. I have been giving this very subject of "affiliates" a lot of thought over the past couple of weeks. I am really been unhappy at work have been wondering if I can finally make the life I want for myself if I begin implementing these many tools that other crafters and bloggers are using and having some success with - enough to enable them to live their lives in the ways they choose to. I wholeheartedly agree with your line of thought, and it's my very same way of thinking, that if you are being very discriminating about it and only associating yourself with those you yourself believe in and stand behind, then it's just basically what you might be doing anyway - recommending something you yourself are very pleased with to your friends. The bonus is you're getting compensated for it. And why is that bad? It isn't. I say go for it and use the tools that are available to you to get your wonderful work out there and to enable you to follow your heart AND make a living from it.
