paint party friday
It's Paint Party Friday, again and I've managed to do a good bit of painting this week. I finished my apple painting.
I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
I also finished my tomato painting.
The red tomato lost some of the lovely color blending as it dried. I tried to add more with additional layers of paint, but it wasn't the same. I guess I need to experiment more with it. In any case, I'm really happy with how this one turned out, too. The bowl, which I was kind of worried about, ended up looking pretty good (to my eyes at least!). I had to go back to look at the photo of the first tomato painting I did back in November when I started with watercolors just to compare (I gave it away, so I had to rely on a photograph).
I really have improved since then.
And I can't help but share the little watercolor I did as part of my postcard for the swap.
I keep meaning to do more word paintings, but I never get around to it. Having a reason and a deadline helped. I like how it turned out.
I also worked a bit this morning on my abstract and it doesn't look so much like a flag anymore.
I've been thinking about adding some collaged elements to it, but I'm going to let it sit for a while and see what comes to me. I like taking time with my acrylic paintings.
And finally, I did a bit of a different kind of painting.
Enjoy your weekend. And stop by to join the party if you get a chance!

lovely assortment of work this week! It was a treat to visit.
ReplyDeleteYour watercolour painting is really coming on Anne. The colour of the green container works so well in the tomato painting and I like the contrast in the shades of tomatoes.

ReplyDeleteHi Anne, you have come a long way just since November. That angle is hard to paint I think and you did a great job on the newer one, not that the older one isn't good, you're just better now :)
