Looking for Some Inspiration? A Few People Who are Inspiring Me
I've been stumbling upon some very inspiring people online lately and I thought a dreary, cold Monday would be a perfect day to share some of this inspiration with you.
Are you familiar with Liz Lamoreux? I bought her book Inner Excavation a few years ago and follow her on Instagram and Pinterest. I check in with her blog every once in a while and find inspiration there every time. She often writes about finding beauty in the messiness of life and is passionate about the importance of self-care. Recently she wrote a blog post: "30 ways to invite in more joy" and it really resonated with me. I think I need to come up with my own list of ways to invite more joy and hang it in my studio. Maybe you'll feel moved to come up with one, too. I'd love to hear what you'd include on your list.
I recently took a CreativeLive class and was curious about one of the in-studio students, a gardening instructor whose business focuses on teaching people the ease and joy of productive vegetable gardening. When I later poked around on her website, The Creative Vegetable Gardener, I found that Megan Cain is based in Madison, Wisconsin, a funny coincidence, I thought. I signed up for her newsletter and sent her a quick note (and got a nice reply). If you're looking for some vegetable gardening inspiration, go take a look at her site. I especially enjoyed watching her on The Victory Garden's Edible Feast. In it she teaches how to make a row cover, build an herb spiral and create and use leaf mulch.
If you're a blogger or a creative business owner, you will find plenty of inspiration on Aeolidia's website. This design company works with creatives to develop brand identity, create standout websites and market their businesses (Alicia Paulson, Renegade Craft Fair and Rare Device are some of their clients). I first discovered Aeolidia when I stumbled on Arianne Foulks' blog post "260 Blog Post Ideas". After that I spent some time reading other posts and I signed up for their newsletter. They provide so many free resources and when I contacted Arianne to thank her I received a warm and generous reply. Even if you're not a creative business owner I think you'll find something useful and inspiring there.
Finally, some of you may already know my blogging friend, Karen. She and I connected fairly early on in my blogging adventure. Her blog, Sew and Sow Life shares her experiences "crafting a rural spirit" on a "bit of earth" in Vermont. She's an expert at finding joy in the little things and beauty in the details. Visiting her blog gives me a sense of peace and hope. Her posts are thoughtful and poetic. Lately she's been doing a series of Triptychs, each a collection of three juxtaposed photographs detailing joys and beauties and recent projects. Go take a look. If you're a blogger, you might even be inspired to create some triptychs of your own.
