Joy List Monday
It's been another full week and here it is, Monday, again.
It's a lot easier to take a photo that looks like my studio is neat and organized than it is to actually make order out of chaos. And chaos it is. Switching back and forth between filming, editing, writing, photographing, drawing and painting means that I'm constantly shuffling piles from here to there.
But isn't that life, too. We're always in the middle of many things and even if we can't reign them all in and find balance and peace we can find and create moments of both.
Writing a Joy List is a perfect way to do that.
*I filmed the sketching of those maple seeds as part of my Skillshare class. At first I was going to grab my watercolor sketchbook, but then ended up grabbing this one, instead:
Do you remember it? I made it last year as part of my Make & Do Creative Challenge. And I was always hesitant to start working in it because it was too "nice". What good is a blank sketchbook sitting on a shelf?

Joy List Monday:
a weekly ritual
a reminder to stop and pay attention to the little beauties and graces that make life magical and to set aside time for gratitude each day
I hope you'll join me and write a list of your own.
My list:
- a cooler morning and open windows
- 12 foot tall sunflower plants in my garden some of which are just starting to open.
- progress on my Skillshare class
- going to the movies with my family (even my brother!) to see Star Trek and Matthias feeling well enough to go
- a kale salad filled with other good veggies, lots of herbs and onions and garlic all from the garden
- playing with gouache
- laughing at myself
- the moon in the morning sky
- nasturtiums growing and blooming despite a total lack of attention
- books, books, books
Here's to a week of noticed moments, captured joys and cultivated stillness!

Your hand made book looks beautiful Anne! It will be even more beautiful when filled to the brim with your sketches and notes. Your nasturtiums are doing great judging by the photo and I like the variegated leaves too.
ReplyDeleteMy joy list for today:
- Husband happier since breaking from teaching job for the summer holiday.
- Making colour swatches from my favourite set of Kuretake watercolours.
- Inspired to take up watercolour painting again after seeing Anne's progression and persistence!
- Making and eating a very simple coconut loaf cake.
Have a lovely week Anne :)
Thank you, Simone. I'm glad I broke it open and hope to keep working in it. I also started another new sketchbook the other day. I think that makes 5 I'm working on at once. Perhaps that's too many. :)
DeleteAnd such a lovely list. So happy you're doing some painting!!! A coconut loaf cake sounds delicious, too. :)
Have a great rest of your week!
I did my Joy List on the blog! xx oo

DeleteP.S. How fun to have that HUGE sunflower growing.

The plants are huge the flowers aren't. I was hoping to be able to use some as cut flowers, but I think I'd need a ladder to get to them. :)
DeleteMatthias at the movies. THAT put a smile on my face. xo
