catching up

I've been away for a while.  Away from home and away from my blog.  I had every intention of blogging while away, but I was just too busy.  Matthias and I were visiting with his family and we had a really good time.  Or at least, I had a good time.  Some of the time Matthias was in agony after being accidentally bitten by our aging (grumpy and arthritic) dog.  They were playing and it got a little (a LOT) too rough.  But other than that, the food was great (we ate a LOT and not just yesterday) and so was the company.  I spent some time with my sister-in-law and we even did some craft supply shopping.  I also got to play games with my brother-in-law, including Quiddler, a really fun card game.

I brought some supplies with me so I could keep up with Art Every Day Month, but other than a bit of photography and a tiny bit of crochet, I didn't get around to much art.

I made a pizza before we left town and took a few pictures that were still on my camera when I downloaded the other ones.

I like how Holden sneaked into the photo of the uncooked pizza.  I modified a focaccia recipe for the crust, topped it with pesto, sliced tomatoes, mozzarella and a bit of feta.

It was yummy.

While the weather was still nice in Springfield, I wandered my father-in-law's garden with my camera.  I took a shadow portrait in the strawberry patch.

I love how their leaves have turned red.

The rosemary still smelled delightful and I rubbed it until my hands smelled, too.

Holden enjoyed the yard, but I don't think he really cared much about things like strawberry leaves or fragrant rosemary.

And although he was patient while I took my photos, he liked it much better when I put down the camera and spent some time running with him.

The only crochet I managed was a tiny granny square.

I have plans to create a bracelet of tiny granny squares.  The plain, single-color granny might be a little too boring, though.  We'll see.

Now that I'm back I'll finish up the in-progress purses that I've been working on (some of the craft supply shopping was for things like zippers and buttons for them) and tackle a couple other projects, too.

  2. Hi Anne,
The pizza looks and sounds yummy, and it looks like you had a lovely time.
I agree with B, the granny squares bracelet sounds sweet - in colors and in all natural. The texture would be beautiful!

  5. I'm always amazed at the differences between different parts of the world. As the northern hemisphere prepares for winter, we're preparing for our annual baking. The differences are wonderous at times.

Great that you're back on the blogging path. Thanks so much for your kind comments on my blog.

  8. Thanks, everyone. We gobbled up the pizza.

And Matthias' hand is much better.

It is funny to think about how different parts of the world are having opposite seasons at the same time!
