a quick how-to

I love candles.  I have them all over the place.  Yesterday I had a brainstorm about, of all things, matches.  Or rather, matchboxes.  I have a fancy matchbox I bought once that is fun to use to light candles.

I've use those matches sparingly (though I can just refill the box, I guess), because they're special.  But I'd love to have fancy matchboxes all over the house.  When I was thinking about putting matches in the guest room (in preparation for a weekend guest -- I'm not naming any names) I realized, I could make a fancy matchbox.  And you can, too.  All you need is decorative paper (or fabric), something to cut with and some glue.

I used paper, an x-acto blade and a gluestick.  Oh, and, of course, a cheap box of matches.

I found it easiest to place the box of matches on top of the paper and carefully cut around it.

Once the pieces were cut out,

I glued them to the box.  I used a gluestick, applying glue to the box and then attaching the paper.

Easy peasy!  And now I have pretty matchboxes placed around the house for quick candle lighting.

  3. Thank you! Touches of prettiness are a good thing. Hope you both are in the middle of making some. :)

Glad you like the header. Until I end up with one that I LOVE, I'm going to change it up periodically. It's nice to be seasonal, too.
