my creative space -- patchworking

I finished the makeover of the back of my desk and I really love how it turned out.  It went from this:

to this:

to this:

I had originally thought that I would cover the back with a roll of contact paper, but I realized that my roll was much too small to cover the whole thing.  I then remembered an idea that I'd been wanting to put to use in some way/shape/form for a long time.  A patchwork wall accent created with wallpaper samples!

I got to work cutting up a selection of wallpaper samples that I had as well as some decorative papers and a bit of the contact paper, too.  Then I grabbed some Mod Podge and a sponge brush and started attaching the pieces.  I worked from the top left corner across and down and back across.  I didn't have much of a plan in terms of design, but I did try to keep the colors, tones, shapes and sizes varied.  It was really fun to do and it makes me so happy each time I walk past.

I'm in the middle of a bunch of projects, but I'll just share one more.

I started this yesterday.  It will say "notice glimmers of beauty each day" when it's finished and the vines will vine around more of the circle and be bedecked with flowers.  It's destined for my arty wall.
