Paint Party Friday!
I did only a little painting today, but I did try to fit in a bit after last Friday's PPF. With the weather getting better there is a lot to do here on the farm. I'll share some photos soon. But today, paintings.
I went back to two of my in-progress acrylic paintings. First the tree and the birds. When I left it I thought that the whitish pink flowers blended into the background too much.
So, inspired by all of the bright green flowers and new growth on the trees around here I made the flowers green instead.
I'm not sure if I want to do anything else to finish the painting or not.
Next I worked on the collaged tree with leaves made from a seed catalog.
This was a lot of fun to paint. I'm not sure I like the shape that it became and I keep seeing a possible deer in there, so I know it's not finished.
I do think I'm done working on the painting of my peppermint geranium, though.
I worked more on the leaves and stems and painted the flowers. I'm not really happy with it and I don't really want to fiddle anymore with it. It was a learning experience and I enjoyed painting it. The fact that I don't love it isn't that important.
I think I'm finished with my fuchsia, too. I worked on painting the soil and played around a bit with sprinkling salt on the paint, thinking that it might make a nice effect.
It's funny that by the time I got around to finishing this painting, most of the flower buds had opened up.
They'll remain buds in my painting, though.
I really love how the leaves turned out and I like the flowers. The pot and soil, I'm less happy with. that just means I need to paint more pots and soil.
There's so much I want to try to paint. More and more flowers are opening here and they're all so beautiful. I look at them and imagine how to paint them. I'd like to add a few more to my sketchbook page. I did work on it some more.
I kept forgetting about my wet paint dots and smearing them. Maybe the bottom of the page isn't the best place for them.

Loving the fuchsia painting! I didn't know you could grow them indoors. I have two hanging baskets of fuchsias hanging on our front porch. The hummingbirds love them. Thanks for sharing all your creative endeavors this week.
ReplyDeleteWow, you have been very busy! Great style and technique! I am really grooving your collaged leaves! Tre cool!
ReplyDeleteSuch creative mind for such wonderful creative work. Well Done!
ReplyDeleteLots of experimenting - that's how we grow! I like all the negative space in the fuschia painting and the way you only see one side of the table. The part I like about your tree painting is that it's so dark and black like a silhouette, and the leaves are so fresh and green - a visual treat!
ReplyDeleteYou have made some beautiful things! I love the delicate water colours. Your seed catalogue branch looks really likea deer, great! And the green flower tree is spring pure! Hugs, Valerie

ReplyDeleteThese are some really great pieces Anne. I too see the deer. Excellent, thanks for sharing! Happy PPF! Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteSo many lovely things you are working on! It is nice to see these change over time. I like what you did with the tree, the green pops more than the purple. And the watercolors are lovely...
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful picture to paint in our minds,, a little girl thinking of giant strawberries,, so sweet.I really like the different colors of the tree with birds. The simplistic beauty of it is just right,,thank you for visiting me,,
ReplyDeleteAnne, All such wonderful work! How cool is that with the deer showing up in that painting? LOVE when that happens. And I agree...the green really brought the bird painting to life. LOVE, love the fuschia painting, too. Gorgeous! And you've inspired me to start a new sketchbook. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool concept to make leaves out of seed catalogues! I hadn´t realized the fuchsia sketch was so big and lifelike. Loving the May page.

ReplyDeleteHi Anne,
ReplyDeleteThe paintings came out really pretty. The May one is cute with the chick in it.
I'm curious, what type of farm do you have? It must be wonderful living there.
I like very much what I see her. I agree, I think the tree is done, and the green flowers look just right. And I can also see the deer in the leaves collage, I wonder what it would look like if you finished it into a deer. Quite intriguing. Your flower watercolors are very beautiful, I like them a lot.
ReplyDeleteWow, I love the change from pink to green flowers, great decision!!! Say hello to Mr Giraffe from me too ;)
ReplyDeleteI love images of the artist's work and setting with inspiration all in one shot! Thank you for sharing that. HAPPY PPF!
ReplyDeleteI too love that you changed the pinky purple flowers to green. It shows off the drippy background better, I love that. Your plant paintings turned out really nice!
ReplyDeleteYou've been busy! Love that your flowering tree suddenly sprouted pretty green leaves. You made it work! I like the peppermint geranium a lot. You do have a great attitude. No one (that I know of, anyway) ever loves every painting they do and that is normal and ok but sometimes hard to remember.
ReplyDeletefun to see all your pieces. I also was working on two this week and I enjoyed going back and forth. I love the light airy feeling to your watercolors.
ReplyDeleteOhhhhh I love that watercolor of the flowers!!! Beautiful!!! And the trees with the birds are also very beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great week with so much wonderful progress! I love the "soon to become a deer" piece - I see the deer too. Everything is gorgeous!
ReplyDeletelovely watercolor work!! keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteso many pretty things here, I really like the tree with the birds.
ReplyDeleteThank you all so much for the encouraging comments. It always means a lot to me to have such enthusiastic support!
