Sweet Saturday -- thrifting and picking flowers

Last weekend we went on a search for a barn sale after seeing a sign posted on the side of the road earlier in the week.  The sign was gone when we went back, but we shopped in a few fun stores in the town and learned the details of the sale from one of the shop owners.  The drive through the hills on the way to the sale was beautiful.  The setting for the sale was amazing; I wish I'd taken some pictures.  The sale itself was so much fun.  I found a number of pieces of furniture that if I wasn't in such a strange living situation, I probably would have bought.  I also found a beautiful little vase that I talked myself out of buying.  It was fun to look anyway.

The next day we decided to drop in at the flea market in our town.  That building is filled with all sorts of interesting things and it's nearly impossible to look at them all.  I found a couple sweet milk glass vases and a pair of vintage cafe curtains that I want to use for a sewing project (I love hunting for vintage fabrics!).

These curtains just may end up becoming the lining of this purse I recently finished crocheting.

After finding the curtains, I discovered a vase identical to the one I'd passed up at the barn sale, for a quarter of the price.  All three vases and the curtains cost a whole $4.25!  I can never have too many vases because I can never have too many flowers.  The lily of the valley here just started blooming.  There's a large patch of it beside the driveway and I picked handfuls to bring inside.  My three new vases were just the thing for them.

They smell delicious.  Definitely sweet!
