working on it

I do not like blogging when I am feeling bad.  I do not like talking to friends and family when I am feeling bad.  When I am feeling very down, I do not even like to journal because journaling means looking at my feelings when all I want is not to have feelings.

I've been having a hard time.  I've been struggling.  Not just because of Holden's death, or because of Talula's and Holden's deaths, although they were, perhaps, catalysts.  I don't want to blog about that.  And that is the reason I have not been blogging.  I'm not sure if I will be full swing back into blogging right now or not.  But I wanted to post in part because I do have some good things to share and also because everyone has been so kind.  Judy's comment today helped push me to get something else up here.  Thank you, Judy.  And thank you to each of you who have left comments, emailed or spoken with me in person or on the phone.  I really appreciate all the kindness, love and support.  I feel less than deserving of it, but I am grateful.

So to turn all the negativity on its head, my first post back will be about my recent Etsy happenings.  One thing creative I have been doing is staying on top of Etsy.  I haven't added anything new to my shop for a bit (I've been slowly working on a new necklace that I haven't yet felt motivated enough to finish), but I've been creating treasuries and relisting items as they expire and I've had a bit of success these last few weeks.  Soon after I arrived in Cleveland I had a sale in my shop and then just this past week I was featured on the front page, twice!

The second time I actually happened to be on Etsy and got to see it myself.  What a thrill that was! Those two features led to two more sales in my shop.  Maybe two sales isn't something to be excited about, but for someone whose shop has been slow to take off, two sales is very exciting.  I sold both sets of my vintage pearl button hair pins.

Guess I'll have to make some more.

I also sold one of my favorite bracelets.

The woman who purchased it wrote me such nice notes about how she signed up for crochet classes and about how much she likes what I make.  Yes, that made me feel good.

So thank you, again, to each of you who have sent love and kindness my way.  And thank you to the universe for the rays of sunshine and hope that have broken through the rain and grayness.

I have more to share, but for now, I'll stop here.

  2. Good to hear your "voice" again, Anne. Glad I inspired you to write.
I am exactly the same way when I'm very down. I just want to disappear and not show that side of myself to anyone. So glad about your etsy sales. Hope you'll find solace in doing what you love. You are obviously thought highly of by many people, including me.
    Lots of love to you...

  3. I have been 'checking in' on you Anne and it is lovely that you have posted today. As well as the sadness you are feeling about your beloved animals, a lot of people are feeling introspective and quiet as the summer fades into autumn. Take time out to just 'be' and come back when you are ready. Great news about your etsy shop and I wish you many more sales.x

  10. Anne I sympathise with you and understand where you're coming from. It's your blog and you can write what you want, when you want to. Don't feel any pressure. From the comment's you get though it would seem like you are held in a circle of love and support when you do share a bit. Lovely Etsy sales - a bit of cheer for you.

  11. Big hugs for reaching out - its hard when you're feeling blue. Love the pieces you sold (those pearl button hair pins are clever!). I'm glad you got a boost from an unexpected direction via Etsy recognition and sales. May your days be warm and sunny, inside and out.

  12. So glad to see you back (even if it's just for a bit and you need more time)! Wow, that is *fantastic* about being on the front page twice...I'm all about those little excitements, like that and making a couple of sales. My shop has been slow to start too and for every little sale I got, I'd be through the roof and it would take hours for me to package it properly and check and double check the address and make sure everything was *just so*.

I can also relate to the way grief just sucks energy out from us. I recently had a client at work die and it was a really, really tough thing for me that brought up all these other questions about life, etc. I withdraw when I'm upset but for me, my blog is the distraction and way to escape. Eventually I journalled about the whole event (as I knew I needed to do, I just needed time first though) and it was really really helpful. Thinking of you!

  14. Hi Anne, it's nice to see you're back but take your time and do what feels right for you. Sometimes even though it's hard, journaling is a really good thing to do to get those feelings out. And then they can be released. That's how it works for me anyway. Congrats on your etsy sales and recognition. Hugs

  15. I've only just been catching up & was so sad to read about Holden - my thoughts are with you. So sorry I'm so behind, I feel awful not having written to you earlier.

I'm glad you felt able to write this post & congratulate you on your etsy success! Twice on the front page, your sales & feedback are a great achievement. Truly, my etsy shop seems to be lost & so I'm very impressed with your success.

I hope you feel stronger & inspired soon. Meanwhile, take very good care of yourself.
    Hugs
    Kat Xx
