signs of spring, a joy list

First, I want to thank everyone for the birthday wishes. I had a wonderful day, though it, and the weekend, flew past. I have trouble believing it's already over! Ah, well, that is the way of things. Time flying.

And that is how we've gotten into spring already. Early spring. That doesn't always look like spring (yet). It's snowing right now, but even so, I've been seeing signs of spring.

Here are some:

  • melting snow
  • spotting the tips of tiny bulbs pushing up through the grass
  • the return of robins and red-winged blackbirds
  • longer days
  • flies and ladybugs waking up in the windows inside
  • buds swelling on the trees
What about you? Have you been noticing signs that the season is changing?

  1. Lovely hyacinth!
We've seen lots of birds (robins included) but no red-winged blackbirds yet. For us, they usually don't show up until May and then we know it's finally going to be warm. Spring seems like it's taking forever to get here this year...but I have a feeling that when it does finally arrive it will be a good one!

  2. Anne, there are not very many signs of spring here in New England, but we are promised warmer temperatures tomorrow, so I'll be looking!! Then, again, I have noticed the bird community becoming more active and I think buds are beginning to form on the forsythia! Love your hyacinth photo!!
