savor september -- the last two days

Can you believe it? September is nearly gone. In the beginning I was so reluctant to move from August to September (and summer to autumn). But by attempting to savor each day, I eased into the month (and the season). And I'm thoroughly enjoying the beauties that are September and autumn.

It probably helps that the weather has been lovely. These last couple days I've been back to shorts and sandals and bare feet.

The tomatoes have been ripening like crazy and the nasturtiums are still blooming and blooming. I feel so grateful that we've been blessed with the gift of these beautiful days and that I've been able to enjoy them with my family and with Matthias' dad. Going for walks. Eating meals together. Sitting by a fire and gazing at the stars.

Yes, the month went by like a flash, but it was an enjoyable flash and this time I'm not reluctant to ease more fully into autumn and to pass into October.

There are plenty more joys to discover. There are many more things to savor.

But for now, I'll just keep enjoying our respite, my bare feet, the sunshine.

What about you? What have you been savoring and enjoying?

  2. Warm days and nights here in Vermont, too. Gorgeous foliage, fabulous sunsets, bountiful produce and CIDER!

This is my favorite time of year and I am soaking it in.

It's a little too dry for a campfire, but we will manage one more before the snow flies, I'm sure!

  3. What beautiful photos and a lovely autumn you are having. I feel like I'm there enjoying your warm fire and crisp weather! The leave are just starting to turn here in Boulder and I love spying the bright flame of yellow cottonwoods or orange maples in the still green landscape. When I can I eat lunch outside in the still lingering warmth of September. Lots of joys to be had in the coming season!
