crochet pattern giveaway drawing

Suddenly it was the day of the drawing and I hadn't thought at all about how I was going to choose a winner. In the past I've used a variety of silly methods and this time I felt that I was all out of ideas. But then, as I tore sheets out of a little notebook on which to write the participants' initials I had a brainstorm.

The lined pages made me think of notebook paper in school and of folding paper airplanes.

And so I folded each participant's page into a paper airplane.

I looked around the room for a target for these airplanes and spied the flowerpot that I am going to use to repot one of my plants. Perfect.

What wasn't perfect was my ability to actually fly those paper airplanes.

I had these same results about four times. I was getting a bit frustrated. How hard can it be really?

Jerome, who has become my studio cat (it's his favorite room in the house -- he spends more time in here than I do), had roused himself by this time to see what was going on. And then, finally...

Not just one, but two airplanes made it into the flowerpot. And so, why not? Two winners are better than one, right?

Congratulations, Dana and Simone. You should be seeing the PDF arrive in your inboxes soon. Thanks to everyone who played along!

  1. Anne, I am thrilled to be a winner! You are so inventive with your methods for picking winners and I am happy that my plane landed in the pot! I look forward to receiving the crochet pattern. By the way, is that a new cat? I only 'know' Mia and Dovey. :-)

    1. So glad, Simone! And nope. Jerome's not new. (Mya and Dovey are my parents cats and they live at the farm. Jerome lives here with Matthias, the greyhounds and me). He's the oldest of any of them at almost 17.

    3. Thanks, Simone. He's the most affectionate cat I've ever known, too.

  3. Is your kitty named for your Dad?
I did not enter the giveaway because I do not crochet...(and I know where to shop from someone who does).
Congrats to the winners, may they create loveliness with your pattern!

    1. I know, it's pretty strange that my dad and my cat have the same name. But, no, it's unrelated. Jerome the Cat is named after a cat from Matthias' childhood. It's actually a bit of a traumatic story. Suffice it to say that Matthias wanted to have a second chance with a Siamese named Jerome.
