introducing... my first crochet pattern (plus a sale and a giveaway!)

It's here! It's finally here.

crochet bracelet, bobble stitch, popcorn stitch

My first ever crochet pattern. I have designed many pieces of jewelry as well as handbags and purses, but I have never written down my patterns (other than the occasional, scribbled note). I have received emails and messages asking if I sell my patterns and I always have to answer, not at the present time. Now that has changed. This debut pattern features instructions for creating crochet bracelets using the bobble (popcorn) stitch. These bracelets were some of the first things I created for my first Etsy shop. The bobble stitch that I use is one that I created (accidentally) when I misread a stitch dictionary. I loved how the bobbles turned out and have been making them like this ever since.

As you can see in the collage above, this pattern includes instructions for a variety of different types of bracelets. It's very adaptable and can be adjusted for many different looks. I've included not only written instructions for creating the bracelets, but also have photographed the stitches and the techniques I use to create the bracelets.

The pattern is available as an instant download in my shop. It's a 14 page PDF that aims not only to show you how to create these bracelets, but also how to think about adapting and adjusting the pattern so that you can create your own unique pieces of jewelry. I love to encourage people to think outside of the box and not to be afraid to make changes and adaptations when creating (no matter what type of creating they are doing). It was such fun to write a pattern from that perspective.

To be able to create these bracelets, you will need to have some crochet experience. You'll need to know how to make a chain, do slip stitches, single crochet stitches and double crochet stitches as well as be familiar with how to fasten off your yarn and weave in the ends. You'll also need to be able to sew on buttons. Even so, I think it should be simple enough for a beginning crocheter.

I plan on rolling out a few more crochet patterns over the next couple months and I am very excited about it. To celebrate I'm having a sale in my shop (actually, both shops!) 20% off with coupon code: CROCHET from now until November 12.

I would also like to give away a copy of this pattern to one lucky winner. Just leave a comment on this post telling me a little bit about your history with crochet (or anything crochet related) and you'll be entered to win. On November 12th I will draw one name and I will email a copy of the pattern to that person. The giveaway is now closed. Thank you to those who entered.

  1. Congratulations on creating your first crochet pattern! I used to do a lot of crochet years ago and once made an intricate baby's shawl and a lovely chunky wrap around shawl for my Great Aunt complete with tassels! I haven't done any crochet for a while now as the yarn I have isn't very inspiring. I would love to take it up again for the winter months. Your popcorn bracelets are delightful and I love the wristwarmers too! :-)

  3. They are really fun. I love the one you made me. :) I'm hesitant to enter the giveaway as I'm sure I can crochet so well with such fine yarn. Would I be able to create it in a different weight yarn?

  4. *It should say NOT so sure... Can you tell it's Monday. LOL

    1. The pattern is adaptable and can be used with any weight of yarn. The bracelets will have a different look depending on what yarn you use (obviously). The instructions are even photographed with a thick yarn (for clarity).

  5. Laughing because I taught myself to crochet from a book. I'm left handed so sometimes my results don't match what the pictures show and I had to reverse the directions. Also, I had trouble understanding what was meant by "single crochet in first chain from hook". I would look at my starting chain, go to the end where I had started & say to myself "well this was the first chain that came from the hook". I would "repeat" as instructed and end up with a collection of tangled loops joined in the center, like floppy daisies, until I finally figured out what they really meant!!! I really like the narrow green bracelet in the last photo.
