signs of spring

path through the woods

Are you feeling it, too? That spring might actually be coming? (If you're on the other side of the planet maybe you're feeling the crispness of the coming autumn?). The temperatures finally moved above freezing here and the snow has been melting. The above photo was taken a few days ago and although I haven't been back to this spot, I'm guessing there's far less snow there now.

Here are some spring joys that have been delighting me lately:

  • birds building nests
  • long, light evenings (thanks to the time change)
  • sunshine, sunshine, sunshine
  • a golden quality to the light
  • warm breezes
  • melting snow
  • fat buds on the trees
  • the sun warming up my studio in the afternoons
  • not having to put the dogs' coats on when we go for walks
  • garden dreams and plans
  • the smell of mud
blue sky and tree branches

What about you? In which signs of the changing season are you delighting?

  1. In Vermont, it's all about the temperatures. The magical formula of freezing at night plus above freezing during the days equals THE RUNNING OF MAPLE SAP! Many neighbors have plunged into the 24/7 job of the sugaring season. Love, love, love!

    1. Yes, it's happening here, too. Someday I'd love to be able to do my own sugaring.

Love this time of year! It seems as if anything is possible!

  2. Hi,
So fun, the smell of mud. :-))
I am planning my garden. And starting to dream up my next garden project in our backyard. I am always puttering with plants.

  3. The lighter evenings are certainly delighting me and in a couple of weeks we put our clocks forward an hour so we will have longer 'day's again! The buds have starting to form on the trees and I have started to see big bumble bees already!

    1. I never understand the time changes and how it's not universal. How different countries can do it at different times and how some of the states here don't do it at all! Baffling.

These long evenings are so wonderful!

Oh, and I did see one honeybee the other day. I worried that it won't be able to find any food yet, though.
