spring?

spring snow

I knew it was too much to hope that we would be spared the snow that was happening elsewhere. Of course, I like to say that it always snows on my birthday (which was yesterday), although that's not 100% true. Some years my birthday comes with beautiful weather (this one, for example).

On Saturday I was sitting on the bench in the above photo while Matthias was grilling our dinner. Earlier in the day I noticed some trees blooming.

It's the same every year. The war between winter and spring. The impatience for winter to be gone for good. The yearning for flowers and warm air and spring clothes and sandals.

Patience.

Wishing you a wonderful week, no matter the weather.

    1. Thank you, Simone! The sun came out yesterday, but we had freezing rain and then more snow overnight. I'm trying not to let it discourage me!

  2. Happy Belated Birthday!
Maybe that was the onion snow? Spring will win out, it always does. Sending you lots of sunshine!

    1. Thanks, Laurie!

Never heard of the onion snow! I had to look it up. How interesting. Unfortunately we did get more snow overnight. Maybe that one was the onion snow. Last year we did have snow in April, so I'm not holding my breath!

    1. Thanks, Claire! Spring will arrive, eventually. If I don't look out the windows I can pretend it's already here. :)

  4. Hi,
We received snow today. I know how good it is for the soil this time of year and the folklore of it has to snow on a Robin's back 3 times before Spring has Sprung. :-))
I will be out of blog land for a few days. I wanted to wish you a Happy Easter.
    Have a blessed week,
    Carla

    1. I've never heard of the saying about the snow on a robin's back. I think they've gotten at least 3 snows. Does that mean spring has sprung?

Have a wonderful time away from blogland and a happy Easter with your boys!
