30 Days 30 Paintings, Day 30 -- I made it!

The last day. This month was a whirlwind. I'm glad, though, that I decided to challenge myself to create a painting each day and I'm proud of myself for having made it through the whole month.

Today's painting is another spent sunflower head.

watercolor, watercolor paintings, autumn, sunflowers, Anne Butera, My Giant Strawberry

I have lots of thoughts about this month's challenge. About art and creativity. About painting. About personal challenges in general. Once I've processed it all I'll share them here.

What about you? Have you ever challenged yourself with something like this? How did it go for you? What did you learn about yourself in the process? I'd love to hear about it.

  1. Congratulations Anne! I really don't know if I would have the stamina to paint everyday and share it too. I love the texture in this sunflower head. I want to touch its seedy face! I don't challenge myself nearly enough. I've just about been able to make it through the day recently without feeling negativity towards myself. I look forward to reading about your take on the challenges you have recently faced. :-)

    1. Thank you, Simone! It did take a lot of stamina, but in some ways it was easier than I thought it would be. Having a routine certainly helped. The sharing it was sometimes hard (and a lot of work), but it did hold me accountable.

I understand feeling negativity toward yourself, but it makes me sad to know you're facing that. We should always be gentle with ourselves. Sending love and hope for joy.

  2. Well done, Anne. Setting out to paint every day for a month is easy, following through is challenging! I admire your commitment to the project, and you managed to paint a lot of beauty in 30 days. xo

    1. Thank you, Karen. I almost decided not to do the challenge for that very reason, but I'm glad I overcame my hesitancy and dove right in.

Glad to have had you cheering me on!
