My Goldfish Fabric Voted #3 in Spoonflower's Watercolor Design Contest

I must say that when I received the email from Spoonflower letting me know I'd made the top 10, I may have whooped and then happy danced all over the house. (Missed my post about the design challenge and contest? You can catch up here).

There were 403 designs entered into Spoonflower's Watercolor Design Contest and my goldfish fabric received the 3rd most votes, 330 votes to be exact. Thank you to each of you who voted! I beat the 4th place winner by only two votes; each vote made a difference and yours might have been one of the 2 that pushed me over the edge!

What a wonderful addition to my birthday week's celebrations! (Thank you, again, for all the birthday wishes! And thank you to each of you who took part in my birthday sale! Your support and encouragement mean so much to me!).

My goldfish fabric design is now available for purchase on the Spoonflower site in a variety of materials (even a couple organic options). I plan on adding more designs to my Spoonflower shop in the coming weeks; I'll keep you posted. I also plan on purchasing some of the fabric myself and making those pajamas I've been talking about.

Actually, if I didn't have a vision of long pajama bottoms I'd be tempted by Grainline Studio's Lakeside Pajamas by Sprout Patterns. Do you know about Sprout Patterns? They are part of Spoonflower, matching independent sewing pattern designers with fabrics from Spoonflower's marketplace (including your own designs).

Fun to play on their site with my goldfish fabric.

You choose the pattern and the fabric and can even drag the pattern pieces around to get an exact placement of the design. They print the pattern pieces on your fabric (and you get a PDF version of the pattern to use with other fabric). Cool, no? (I also tried my fabric out on this hat pattern by Betz White -- sewing a summer hat has been on my to-do list for ages).

You can read more about how Sprout works here and you might want to take a look at Rochelle New's blog post where she share's her experience sewing the Lakeside Pajamas with her fabric designs.

Looking at these fish so much lately has almost made me want to start painting more of them.

I still have some original watercolor goldfish paintings available on my website and in my Etsy shop.

Wishing you a joy-filled weekend!
