My First Solo Art Exhbit

On Monday I mentioned hanging an art exhibit and I thought I should share a bit more about it today.

I've had my paintings exhibited in art shows before. Two years in a row I had paintings at the National Heirloom Expo (I wrote about that here and here) and last year at the Philadelphia Flower Show (I wrote about that here). I didn't go to any of those shows and didn't get to see my art on display. In each case I only had one painting among many by other artists.

I haven't really pursued exhibiting my art, for a number of reasons, but in February when the beautiful new library opened in town with a gallery wall for art display a little spark of an idea was lit. I noticed a call for art in the newspaper in March and finally got organized to submit in April. I was accepted as the artist for the month of June.

The exhibit features seven of my paintings.

art exhibit, art show, art gallery, watercolor paintings, Viroqua Wisconsin, McIntosh Memorial Library, Anne Butera, My Giant Strawberry

I chose pieces of a variety of subjects and in a variety of sizes to give a good overview of my art as a whole.

It's exciting and a little strange to see my art hanging here in the library.

Going to be in Southwest Wisconsin during the month of June? Our little town of Viroqua is a lovely spot to stop. The McIntosh Memorial Library is around the corner off Main Street at 205 S. Rock Ave.

  1. Your work looks wonderful on display Anne - a whole wall to yourself! That is some achievement! :) I hope 'Anne Butera' becomes a household name in Viroqua if it isn't already. Well done on getting a collection of your artwork ready for display despite the challenging period you had been going through. I hope you have a lovely weekend. :)

    1. No need to apologize, Judy. We all have lots going on and popping around on blogs shouldn't be a priority when life's there to live. (I hope you have been busy with lots of joyful things!!)

And a huge thank you for your congratulations. :) I wish you could come see it in person, too!

    1. Thank you, Carla! If you plan on making it down here we should get together for a coffee or something. Or if nothing else I can give you recommendations of things to see and do while you're here! :)

  4. Did some magical fairy paint those gallery walls spring green? It is just the right color to show off your beautiful art, Anne. How impressive it is, gathered together in one place, for all the world to see. I am so very happy for you, friend. xo

    1. It is just the right color, isn't it? That's one of the things I loved about the new library when I first stepped inside. It's such a bright, open space with hits of lovely colors like that.

And thank you, so, so much for coming along with me on this journey. I'm so happy to have gotten to this point and it's wonderful to have had you cheering me along the way.
