Paint Party Friday!
It's that time again. I've been focused a bit more on finishing up and listing some new items in my Etsy shop than on painting this week. And I did do a bit of writing and re-reading some stories that I want to fine tune. It's been a creative week even if it hasn't been a full painting week. I did manage to fit in a bit of painting, though.
I found some wild flowers in the weedy strip between our property and the cornfield beside us. I don't know what they are, but they are pretty and smelled good. I wanted to paint them so I picked a bunch and brought them inside.
Some of you mentioned my chalkboard tray. I love it, too. I found it in a sweet shop in a nearby town. I saw it and thought, I could make that! But then I figured that between buying the tray and the paint and putting it all together it would probably cost me more than buying this one already made. I only just hung it over the desk I use to do my watercolors and it makes me happy having it there.
Anyway, I started work on painting this vase of wildflowers.
I haven't finished it yet.
But I did finish another intuitive painting.
It was hot that day and I was sweaty and tired and a bit cranky from the heat and I enjoyed just playing with the paint. It made me feel much better. I like how it turned out, too.
I also finished the poem/painting that I did for Kat's TIC TOCC exercise. I'm actually thinking that I'd like to do some more like it.
I just had (what seems to me like) a brilliant idea for my acrylic abstract, so maybe I'll work some more on that and even have it finished by next week's PPF.
Finally, on an entirely different sort of painting topic, back in Cleveland the painters are finishing up our house! I am most excited about the turqouisey/duck egg green that the doors were painted.
The doors were red when we moved in and although I liked the red doors, I wanted something different (Matthias wouldn't let me choose anything too "crazy" for the main part of the house. It's basically painted the same color it was before). Silly to get so attached to color choices when I won't be living there to enjoy the colors, but I've always loved our sweet house and have enjoyed choosing all the colors we've chosen. I'm hoping that whoever ends up buying our house will love the colors, too.

ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable house! Love the color choice for the doors as well. :) I'm looking forward to seeing your abstract painting next week. :) I love abstract!
ReplyDeleteI love the intuitive flowers too and I finished up my Saint Therese because it was hot and I was cranky and sweaty and the painting helped. Your flowers would make great note cards.
ReplyDeleteThose flowers are wonderful! I love the colors. Very nice how they all blend together. Very cool free flowing design.

ReplyDeleteThose flowers are great! The little vase they are in is very summery. What a beautiful front door- the color is very fresh and inviting.
ReplyDeleteNotecards is what come to mind when I see your flowers. They are beautiful and so is your house. It's a great house. Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteI love your intuitive, it's so cheery. And your house is so sweet, well I guess bittersweet. I know how it feels selling a house you love.
ReplyDeleteYour house is adorable! So picturesque! Houses of that era cost a grip here in Sacramento.
ReplyDeleteLove your submission too! Happy PPF!
Anne: YOU are so darn creative! Just visited your Etsy shop (again), I love to go there! Your old Cleveland house is very cool and the front door is awesome. But when one door closes another door opens and I would so rather be on a farm - how are the chicks and ducklings doing? Happy PPF into the weekend!
ReplyDeletei love anything to do with flowers, your intuitive painting is no exception! Nice door colour too.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are very pretty and the colors are great. I am looking forward to seeing the wildflowers you picked finished. The little vase they are in is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYes, everything is beautiful from the intuitive blooms to the front door (LOVE THAT COLOUR)!! So pleased you called by & love to drop in to see what's happening here, always a visual pleasure :)
ReplyDeletePeaceful colors to go with your sweet home. The door matches perfectly. I also enjoyednhow you blended the colors one into the other for the intuitive piece. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteI love it when I have a lot of projects going on...sometimes makes me feel a bit scattered, but makes me all abuzz with creative energy :)
ReplyDeleteCan;t wait to see more of yours when you finish them...I love that intuitive one tremendously!
...and what a sweet house...so charming it is :)
Those watercolor flowers would make lovely bed sheets. It would be like sleeping in a meadow!
ReplyDeleteI've been addicted to Masterpiece Theatre's Downton Abbey, and all the soft, muted colors of the "downstairs" warrens. Soft grays, taupes and greens, so soothing, much like your front door, (and it's arched!).
Wishing you a productive weekend.
love the rainbow flow in your flower painting!
ReplyDeleteWhat a charming little house! I enjoyed the colorful flowers this week too. HAPPY PPF!
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are lovely. I like your intuitive paintings. What a beautiful house you have. The colors do go well together.
ReplyDeleteI'm still attached to the house that I grew up in. I hate that my mother sold it. It's hard for me to drive by and not be allowed in. Oh well, I must move forward and not live in the past.
Have a great weekend.
It sounds like you've had a wonderfully creative week :) Your watercolors look great and I can't wait to see what your idea is for your next abstract acrylic!
