Paint Party Friday!

It's that time again.  I've been focused a bit more on finishing up and listing some new items in my Etsy shop than on painting this week.  And I did do a bit of writing and re-reading some stories that I want to fine tune.  It's been a creative week even if it hasn't been a full painting week.  I did manage to fit in a bit of painting, though.

I found some wild flowers in the weedy strip between our property and the cornfield beside us.  I don't know what they are, but they are pretty and smelled good.  I wanted to paint them so I picked a bunch and brought them inside.

Some of you mentioned my chalkboard tray.  I love it, too.  I found it in a sweet shop in a nearby town.  I saw it and thought, I could make that!  But then I figured that between buying the tray and the paint and putting it all together it would probably cost me more than buying this one already made.  I only just hung it over the desk I use to do my watercolors and it makes me happy having it there.

Anyway, I started work on painting this vase of wildflowers.

I haven't finished it yet.

But I did finish another intuitive painting.

It was hot that day and I was sweaty and tired and a bit cranky from the heat and I enjoyed just playing with the paint.  It made me feel much better.  I like how it turned out, too.

I also finished the poem/painting that I did for Kat's TIC TOCC exercise.  I'm actually thinking that I'd like to do some more like it.

I just had (what seems to me like) a brilliant idea for my acrylic abstract, so maybe I'll work some more on that and even have it finished by next week's PPF

Finally, on an entirely different sort of painting topic, back in Cleveland the painters are finishing up our house!  I am most excited about the turqouisey/duck egg green that the doors were painted.

The doors were red when we moved in and although I liked the red doors, I wanted something different (Matthias wouldn't let me choose anything too "crazy" for the main part of the house.  It's basically painted the same color it was before).  Silly to get so attached to color choices when I won't be living there to enjoy the colors, but I've always loved our sweet house and have enjoyed choosing all the colors we've chosen.  I'm hoping that whoever ends up buying our house will love the colors, too.

  18. Those watercolor flowers would make lovely bed sheets. It would be like sleeping in a meadow!

I've been addicted to Masterpiece Theatre's Downton Abbey, and all the soft, muted colors of the "downstairs" warrens. Soft grays, taupes and greens, so soothing, much like your front door, (and it's arched!).

    Wishing you a productive weekend.

  21. The flowers are lovely. I like your intuitive paintings. What a beautiful house you have. The colors do go well together.
I'm still attached to the house that I grew up in. I hate that my mother sold it. It's hard for me to drive by and not be allowed in. Oh well, I must move forward and not live in the past.
    Have a great weekend.
